What MESH is all about and what is used for?
We could say mesh networking is an intelligent grid of access points. They're all connected together and aware of each other, "talking" to each other. If any of those admission points for any of reason goes down, all the other access points however automatically re-connect into the grid on the fly and still route traffic.
The about common usage is when you need to comprehend a larger expanse and at that place's only 1 location having a physical internet connectedness available. Note! All Mesh devices work on 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies. Although the wireless uplink (Unifi Mesh technology) works exclusively on 5 GHz. The all-time arroyo is to use the 5 GHz frequency merely for uplinks and 2.iv GHz simply for clients (laptops, phones, tablets…). This manner the potential client devices don't overload the 5GHz uplinks.
I was quite impressed with the overall performance. Roaming between access points works flawlessly.
When I first tested the devices I noticed that even though information technology's said the coverage is up to 180 meters, the reality is a flake different. Most users have mobile phones and tablets. The antennas of these small-scale devices are non that powerful. They have no problem receiving the signal, but with the transmitting to the access point. For the best performance, I wouldn't recommend the distance between two Mesh devices to be more than 100 meters.
NOTE! Make sure you use non-overlapping 2.4 GHz channels. This way y'all eliminate any interference between admission points. I used channels like this:
- MAIN: channel 6,
- one: channel 1,
- 2: aqueduct xi
- 3: channel 1
